A PERTH hotel sub-contractor is being investigated for allegedly dumping rubbish in Bayswater.
Furniture and fittings, including TVs, were allegedly dumped at Wotton Skatepark on September 10, 2012 by a subcontractor working for Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough.
Bayswater council officers found an address label on the TV tracing it back to the Radisson City Observation Hotel.
The hotel, which overlooks the Indian Ocean on The Esplanade, was recently refurbished and rebranded as Rendezvous.
Dumping of industrial waste and asbestos at the Embleton skatepark is an ongoing problem. This year the council chained the lower car park at Wotton Skatepark on weekdays and weekend nights in a bid to stop lazy dumpers.
Rendezvous Hotel marketing manager Jennifer Kirk says he was “extremely disappointed” when notified of the incident by Bayswater council.
“The subcontractor was not appointed by Rendezvous Hotel Perth,” she stressed.
“[The hotel] appointed a building project management company to undertake the refurbishment of its hotel rooms who were responsible for appointing, managing and vetting any subcontractors working on the project.
“Current works that are underway at the hotel are being undertaken by a separate contractor who is in no way related to this incident.”
Mayor Terry Kenyon says the investigation is ongoing.
