ALANNAH MacTIERNAN is confident she can successfully negotiate passage of Vincent city council’s long-delayed city planning scheme with the WA planning commission.
She may even call upon new Perth Liberal MP Eleni Evangel to help. The former Labor planning minister notes she’s worked constructively with the Liberals since 2011 and she doesn’t see that changing given Labor MP John Hyde was booted for Ms Evangel.
Ms MacTiernan campaigned hard for Mr Hyde but she doesn’t believe there’ll be hard feelings, nor that it will damage her city’s standing with the resurgent Barnett Liberal government.
“I wrote to Eleni congratulating her on victory, and hopefully she can help us get Vincent’s city planning scheme approved, which has been gathering dust at the WA planning commission,” Ms MacTiernan says.
“But she always knew I was backing John.”
