VINCENT city councillor Warren McGrath wants to help transform a Northbridge laneway into a retail and entertainment bijou.
Cr McGrath wants to make the section of Washing Lane, between William and Money Streets, a pedestrian zone from 11am to 11pm so punters can enjoy alfresco dining and skinny lattes.
The little-known laneway, near the corner of William and Newcastle Streets, is being transformed into a Melbourne-style social and retail precinct.
Thirty-seven boutique apartments are due to be built in Washing Lane by mid/late 2014.
Cr McGrath has requested the council complete a feasibility study on the pedestrian zone by May 2013.
The Voice contacted Cr McGrath, but he didn’t get back to us.
