Magnificent Abrolhos Eco-Tours
The World Conservation Union describes eco-tourism as: ‘environmentally responsible travel to natural areas…that promotes conservation, has low visitor impact and provides beneficial socio-economic involvement of local people’.
Eco-Abrolhos Tours aims to uphold this ethos in everything that it does. Operating out of Geraldton and around the Abrolhos as a charter tour operator since 2005, the company’s links to the area go back 35 years. Owned and operated by Jay and Sonia Cox, the couple’s knowledge and passion for the area is second to none. The tours are exciting and educational, informing guests about the region’s natural wonders. The goal is to create a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry for the Abrolhos Islands that treads lightly on the environment.
The marine life of this pristine region is world renowned. Take in the majesty of migratory humpback whales as they make their way up and down the coast. The turquoise waters team with dolphins and sea lions and are home to some of the most important seabird breeding grounds in the world.
The company’s main vessel the Eco-Abrolhos has recently undergone a $1.7M refit, providing guests with a superb level of comfort. The vessel has 19 ensuited cabins, a restaurant and 2 bars. The expedition boat carries 4 custom-made excursion tenders. The friendly and knowledgable crew is happy to answer any queries you may have while on board. All crew members are required to undertake ongoing training to ensure they are up to date with the latest maritime procedures. The company also conducts tours to the magnificent Kimberley region.
